I’m an Okinawa-based travel and lifestyle blogger, @owncolorstravel , sharing recommended travel spots and helpful tips for those visiting Okinawa — whether you’re traveling from mainland Japan or coming from abroad with an interest in Japanese culture.

Recently, I’ve been on a diet and successfully lost weight by carefully managing my meals. My goal, however, has never been just to lose weight — it’s to lose weight beautifully.

I usually cook for myself, but I had never tried incorporating acai into my meals before. I’d always been curious about it, so I really wanted to try an acai bowl here in Okinawa. And finally, I made it to the place I’d been dreaming of!

In this post, I’d like to share a lovely acai bowl spot you can visit in Okinawa — along with the beauty benefits and charm of acai itself.

The acai bowl I had was from HAPPY BOWLS OKINAWA, located by Araha Beach.

When it comes to acai in Chatan, this place is hands-down the most popular spot — HAPPY BOWLS OKINAWA.

The shop sits right along the lush, green promenade near Araha Beach, surrounded by cozy cafés and restaurants. The atmosphere here is so relaxing that it’s worth a visit even just for a stroll.

This area actually reminds me of the seaside in Sanur, Bali — peaceful, tropical, and one of my favorite spots in Okinawa. ♥

Around lunchtime, quite a few tourists were lined up outside, but soon it was finally my turn.

It was my very first time trying acai.
When I told the friendly staff, “It’s my first time eating this,” they kindly explained everything to me.

They also have smoothies and other options, but since I came specifically for an acai bowl, I chose the bowl menu. You can customize it with your favorite toppings, too.

Since it was my first time, I decided to keep it simple.

They ask for your name when you order, and you can wait either inside or outside until it’s ready — but mine was called pretty quickly!

Since it gets really hot in midsummer, eating inside might be a good idea. But I had brought a picnic mat with me to enjoy mine by Araha Beach, so I decided to sit outside.

When my acai bowl was handed to me, the staff kindly reminded me, “Be careful, it melts quickly.”

The bowl was topped with crispy granola, chilled acai, and colorful fruits like banana and mango — refreshing and vibrant, both in taste and appearance. It looked perfectly tropical and matched the Okinawan vibe beautifully!

Right in front of you is the beach — and Araha Beach Park, with its lush green lawns and palm trees, feels wonderfully tropical. It’s such a relaxing place where you can truly enjoy the island vibe.

This area is also very dog-friendly, with plenty of cafés and shops that welcome pets. You can easily grab a bite to eat or enjoy a leisurely walk along the promenade with your dog.

・What Makes Açaí Great for Beauty and Health

Açaí is a small, deep-purple fruit from the palm trees of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil — a well-known superfood that has also become a popular café item in Hawaii and Okinawa, especially as the colorful açaí bowl.

Packed with nutrients that support both beauty and wellness, açaí is something worth adding to your daily diet.

One of the biggest reasons açaí gets so much attention is its powerful antioxidant effect. Rich in polyphenols and anthocyanins, it helps fight oxidative stress in the body, which can lead to dark spots, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. For those who are frequently exposed to the sun, açaí can be a great ally in protecting the skin.

Açaí is also loaded with iron and dietary fiber, which help improve your overall health from within. When your body is balanced on the inside, your skin naturally becomes more radiant and glowing.

Another key beauty nutrient in açaí is vitamin E, which promotes blood circulation and supports skin cell turnover. This helps brighten dull skin and works as a form of “internal skincare” to enhance your natural glow.
