This time, we’re continuing our journey in Yomitan Village, located in central Okinawa.
Let me introduce one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Yomitan Village—a place I’ve visited several times and can’t get enough of!
・ Thai Restaurant In Yomitan Okinawa/Thaifood Shirokuma
Thaifood Shirokuma 304 Toya, Yomitan Village, Nakagami District, Okinawa 904-0305
Located near Toya Fishing Port, Asian Shokudo Shirokuma is a Thai restaurant inspired by Thai street food stalls. The casual, Asian-style interior makes it a great spot to enjoy a relaxed meal.
They’re open for both lunch and dinner:
- Lunch: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Last Order 2:30 PM)
- Dinner:
- Weekdays (Mon, Tue, Thu): 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Last Order 8:00 PM)
- Weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun): 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Last Order 9:00 PM)
The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays.
There’s free parking available with space for 10 cars, plus an additional 3 spots right on the restaurant’s property.
Here’s a look at the interior. The handmade, ethnic vibe creates a cozy atmosphere with table seating, sofa seating, and even a terrace area. The terrace is pet-friendly, making it a great option if you’re dining with your furry friend.
It’s a spacious and open setting, so you can enjoy your meal without feeling cramped. Even if you’re dining solo, it’s a relaxing and stress-free environment.
There’s also a small souvenir corner where they sell essentials for Thai cooking, like seasonings and sauces—a nice touch for those who want to bring a bit of Thailand home with them!
・Lunch menu
Here’s a look at the lunch menu at Asian Shokudo Shirokuma.
You’ll find classic Thai dishes like Pad Thai, Gapao Rice, and a variety of curries.
On this visit, I ordered the Kunpa Rice, which features shrimp stir-fried with curry spices. It was absolutely delicious!
The aroma of the curry is absolutely mouthwatering. It’s rich and flavorful with a nice balance of spice, but not overly spicy—perfect for those who aren’t fans of overly hot dishes.
It was so satisfying and definitely a dish I’d want to come back for!
The lunch also includes a mini salad, and on this day, it came with rice noodles. The light tanginess made it refreshing and a great complement to the meal.
For the price, it’s incredibly budget-friendly and offers great value. My recommendation just went up a notch!
・Dinner
For dinner, you can choose from à la carte dishes or enjoy a course meal—perfect for a girls’ night out or small gatherings.
The Thai cuisine here is authentic, taught directly by a Thai chef. On a separate dinner visit, I ordered the Thai Roasted Chicken (Gai Yang), Fried Spring Rolls, and my all-time favorite, Tom Yum Goong. The combination of spiciness and tanginess in the Tom Yum Goong makes it an irresistible dish I could eat over and over again.
The dinner atmosphere is livelier compared to lunchtime, with a vibrant mix of guests, including American residents in Okinawa and international visitors. And to my surprise, I even spotted a well-known celebrity—so unexpected that I did a double take! It’s clear how popular this place is.
Takeout is also available, making it convenient for those staying at nearby hotels to enjoy their meal in the comfort of their room.
When I stayed at Hotel Nikko Alivila, located along the Yomitan coastline, I called ahead to order from Shirokuma. They had everything prepared and ready for pickup, so I brought it back to my room and enjoyed it there.
A quick tip: if you’re driving at night from Alivila to Shirokuma, be cautious. The route passes through sugarcane fields with minimal lighting, making the road dark and a bit tricky to navigate. Drive carefully!
So, what do you think about Asian Shokudo Shirokuma?
It’s a great spot to stop by after a diving session or during your Okinawa sightseeing. With its authentic flavors and casual vibe, it’s perfect for those moments when you’re not sure what to eat. Definitely a top recommendation for Thai food in the Yomitan area!
