I’ve featured the Sunabe/Miyagi area of Chatan several times, and for good reason. This coastal neighborhood has a laid-back, West Coast USA vibe, with a large community of American residents. It’s also a well-known spot for surfing and diving, making it one of the most international areas in Okinawa.
In this post, I’m introducing TIMELESS CHOCOLATE, Okinawa’s very first specialty chocolate shop. With three locations across the island, this unique brand offers a one-of-a-kind experience for chocolate lovers visiting the area.

Timeless Chocolate – I first discovered this shop around Valentine’s Day while looking for high-quality chocolate in Okinawa. Back then, they had a store inside Mihama American Village, where I bought one of their signature chocolate bars. That was the start of my love for their products.
Since relocating from American Village to the more exotic, coastal Miyagi area of Chatan, Timeless Chocolate has transformed into a factory-style café. When you step inside, you’re welcomed by the rich aroma of cacao. Visitors can watch the chocolate-making process up close and enjoy handcrafted drinks, ice cream, and desserts made with freshly produced chocolate at the adjoining café.
Please note that there’s no dedicated parking lot for the café. However, you can use nearby free parking spots, such as the one in front of Sunabe Baba Park. The café is located on the first floor of Hotel Sunset Terrace, making it easy to find even if it’s your first time in the area.
Here’s a look at the current menu. When I passed by the shop previously, I thought I saw some food items available, so I asked about it—turns out they’re no longer serving food at this location. However, the staff kindly recommended their sister shop just around the corner, Wake & Bagel, which specializes in handmade bagels.
You can also purchase chocolate at the shop—perfect for enjoying at home or picking up as a thoughtful souvenir.
Pictured in the top left is the TIMELESS CHOCOLATE Complete Set, a tasting box that showcases the full range of what the brand has to offer. Each bar features unique flavors and textures depending on the origin of the cacao beans and sugarcane, as well as variations in blending and production methods.

Beyond chocolate, TIMELESS CHOCOLATE also offers a range of cacao-based products. I had the chance to sample their Cacao Mustard, and it was a pleasant surprise.
All of their products are made in-house from start to finish, using carefully selected Okinawan ingredients such as locally brewed moromi vinegar, natural spring water from Kume Island, and sea salt from Yagaji Island. The mustard has a mild sweetness from Okinawan brown sugar, balanced by a sharp, spicy kick—making it a perfect match for sausages and other savory dishes.
Just around the corner from TIMELESS CHOCOLATE, you’ll find Wake & Bagel, a specialty bagel sandwich shop where I stopped by to try one of their handmade bagels. They offer an impressive variety of flavors and fillings.
Their bagels are baked in a stone oven and made with care, using Okinawan-grown wheat that’s free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Other local ingredients include Okinawan cane sugar, sea salt, and natural spring water—bringing out a wholesome, satisfying flavor with every bite.
There’s a small table with a parasol set up near the entrance for waiting, but with the strong Okinawan sun, I decided to stay in the car for a bit to avoid the heat.
I ordered the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel from Wake & Bagel, and paired it with a cacao fruit smoothie I picked up from TIMELESS CHOCOLATE.
The smoothie is rich yet refreshing—made with cacao pulp, banana, and coconut milk, with a citrusy kick from Okinawan shikuwasa. The vibrant dragon fruit sauce on top adds a pop of color that makes it perfect for photos.
As for the bagel, it had a satisfyingly chewy texture (great for jaw workouts!), and the combination of smoked salmon and cream cheese was absolutely spot-on.
TIMELESS CHOCOLATE has limited indoor seating—just a counter table inside. During the summer months, the outdoor seats can be uncomfortably hot, so if indoor seats are full, getting your order to go is probably the best option.
One great alternative is to take your treats to nearby Sunabe Baba Park or the adjacent Baba Beach. It’s a scenic spot where you can enjoy your chocolate while watching surfers in the distance or spotting planes heading toward Kadena Air Base. It’s a relaxing way to soak up the local atmosphere by the sea.
In the Sunabe Port area, you’ll find HARBOR – tripcafeokinawa, a collaborative café by the popular pancake spot Trip Cafe Okinawa and TIMELESS CHOCOLATE. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of the West Coast and the colorful buildings of American Village, creating the perfect Okinawan beachside vibe.
There are eight dedicated parking spaces for HARBOR, located at the far end of the gravel lot next to the café. If those are full, you might be able to find a spot along the seaside, but parking can be limited in this area—especially since it’s filled with hidden gem shops. It’s a small drawback to an otherwise fantastic location, but well worth the visit if you’re exploring the Chatan coast.
