Now that it’s April, we’re starting to get some sunny, warm days—but true to spring weather, it can still suddenly turn cloudy and chilly.
This time, I’m bringing you the latest updates from the central part of Okinawa’s main island—American Village!
A beloved character has arrived in Chatan—Snoopy’s Surf Shop just opened its doors here! It’s the second shop in Japan after the original one in Hawaii. I went to check it out right away, so here’s my report!

・Snoopy’s surf shop Chatan

Snoopy’s surf shop Chatan 〒904-0115 Okinawa Prefecture Nakagami District Chatan Town Mihama 9-7 Plaza F1F
The 4th Snoopy’s Surf Shop, originally from Hawaii, just opened this April inside Mihama American Village!
For more info on other shops and spots around American Village, check out the article linked below.

Right outside the shop entrance, there’s a wall painted with Snoopy and friends—giving off a fun tropical beach vibe that totally fits the resort atmosphere.
By the way, in Hawaii, there are locations in Haleiwa and Diamond Head. This new shop in Chatan follows the Naha store as the second one in Japan!

One of the cool things about the Okinawa shop is that it carries exclusive items you can’t find anywhere else. Just like the aloha vibes in Hawaii, here you’ll find T-shirts and caps with local touches—like “Haisai” (a friendly Okinawan greeting) or “OKINAWA” logos.
One standout piece is a T-shirt featuring a map of Okinawa’s main island, highlighting popular surf spots. It even points out places like TENGAN in Uruma City and Maeda Point in Onna Village—well-known spots among local surfers.
This shop definitely feels like it has the potential to become a favorite among Okinawa’s surfing community.

They also carry tote bags, accessories, and more—so even just browsing lets you soak up all the Snoopy vibes. If you’re visiting Okinawa, it’s definitely worth stopping by to check it out!

Even the shop bags have an Okinawa logo on them, so they make great souvenirs too. The plastic shopping bag, in particular, could totally double as a beach bag—perfect for carrying your swimsuit and other stuff later on!

Even the tables and chairs on the terrace in front of the shop are decked out with Snoopy designs!

Here are the items I couldn’t resist and ended up taking home:
A keychain, a salmon pink cap, and a T-shirt with the Okinawa logo. Of course, they packed it all up nicely in the shop’s signature bag.
There’s also a fitting room inside, which is super helpful—especially since some of the clothing is unisex. You can try things on to make sure you get the right size for you.

・They even sell Snoopy surfboards—how cool is that?

Just like Hawaii, Chatan is also known for surfing. The Miyagi/Sunabe area in Chatan gets good swells, making it one of the most popular surf spots in Okinawa, especially loved by local surfers.
It’s not a beach break, but Sunabe is a spot where everyone—from kids to adults, and even total beginners—can enjoy the waves. The crystal-clear water and natural surroundings make it a great place to experience the beauty of the ocean while surfing.

At Snoopy’s Surf Shop in Chatan, they even sell surfboards!
They’ve got everything from shortboards, all featuring the Okinawa logo.
Surfboards, wetsuits, leashes—yep, all Snoopy-themed! It’s such a rare find, it’ll definitely make catching waves even more fun.

By the way, if you’re new to surfing in Okinawa, it’s a good idea to start with a surf school. It’s the best way to learn the local surf spots and rules before hitting the waves on your own.

If you’re interested in Snoopy surfboards, why not pick one up while you’re in Okinawa?
With a stunning view of the Kerama Islands, you might even find yourself catching waves right there in Sunabe, Chatan—just relaxing on the water, waiting for the next set to roll in.
