Thank you for visiting my blog. I’m RiRi, a Japanese blogger who runs a blog centered around travel and lifestyle, capturing photos and videos along the way.
I share my experiences, impressions, and recommendations to help those who are traveling to France for the first time.
I thought about whether to choose a luxurious hotel along the coast or a cost-effective hotel that focuses on exploring the city for my stay in Cannes, South France.
As a result, I decided to stay in Cannes for two nights and now I would like to share the information about the hotel I enjoyed staying at and the items you should prepare before traveling to a hotel in France.
・Hôtel de Provence
・A cozy and lovely garden
Hôtel de Provence 9 Rue Molière, 06400 Cannes, France
There is a hotel located a 10-minute walk from Gare de Cannes, the Cannes train station, and about a 5-minute walk to the beach.
As I mentioned in a previous blog post, the Croisette Boulevard along the coast is lined with luxury hotels, so the location of the Hôtel de Provence is ideal for those who want to enjoy both shopping and the beach.
As you can tell from the exterior of the hotel, it has a well-maintained garden with plenty of plants, giving it a resort-like feel with palm trees.
The white roses add a European touch, which women might particularly love.
The hotel itself has a homey feel and is small in scale, so there is no pool on the premises. However, you can relax in the garden on the available chairs, and breakfast can also be enjoyed in the garden, ensuring a comfortable stay.
The reception staff were very accommodating, and I was able to enjoy a welcome drink in the evening, so I had wine in the garden.
・Room tour
I chose the Double Balcony Garden View room, which has a balcony. This type of room is sufficient for a solo trip. Smoking is generally allowed on the balcony. By the way, I think it’s more cost-effective to book this hotel through their official website.
There is also the Penthouse Terrace Suite, which is a great option for those who want a more luxurious stay or for families. This type of room is spacious and includes a bathtub.
I enjoy soaking in a bath with bath salts to relieve travel fatigue, so it was a bit disappointing that there was no bathtub. However, if you’re not particular about this, it shouldn’t be a problem.
The provided body soap had a very pleasant fragrance.
The room, with its white-themed decor, had a clean and fresh feel. Although the room was on the smaller side, there was plenty of storage space, and there were hangers by the entrance, making it easy to organize clothes.
The canvas paintings decorating the room were also lovely.
The balcony, while not offering an ocean view, had a great atmosphere with tall palm trees and an open space. Complimentary bottled water was provided.
Thanks to this balcony, I never felt cramped during my stay.
The room on the lower floor has a balcony with a spacious garden.
・Breakfast
Since I am staying for several nights, I would like to enjoy breakfast at a leisurely pace.
Right in front of the hotel reception, there is a lounge that also serves as the breakfast area, featuring a piano and a bar counter.
Breakfast is served buffet style.
A staff member kindly asked, “Would you like a drink?” and I ordered a café au lait to wake myself up.
The offerings were simple, including cereals, pancakes, baguettes, crepes, ham, cheese, eggs, and fruit, but I especially liked the pear juice shown on the right in the photo!
There was a wide variety of jams, and the banana jam was the best. The jams are also available for purchase at the hotel, making them a great souvenir.
Breakfast is included, and the cost for two nights is €248. For a three-star hotel, this offers great value for the area.
Guests can use the affiliated La Mandala – Restaurant – Beach – Croisette Cannes. Why not spend some time at this stylish beach, lined with rows of parasols?
Items to prepare before staying at a hotel in France
Hairdryers are generally available in most hotels.
I usually bring facial cleanser, bath additives, travel-sized toiletries, as well as my regular floss and mouthwash.
To minimize luggage, it’s best to choose compact items. Here’s a recommended packing list:
- Toothbrush set (including floss and mouthwash)
- Facial cleanser
- Skincare items (cotton pads, cotton swabs)
- Shampoo, conditioner (and hair oil)
Considering these, it’s clear how well-equipped Japanese accommodations are in terms of amenities. When traveling abroad, it’s better to bring these essentials from home rather than searching for them upon arrival, especially if you need them from the first day of your trip.
So, how did you find my Cannes experience? Here are my impressions of Cannes:
I think Cannes is ideal for:
- Movie enthusiasts
- Shopping aficionados
- Fans of luxury resorts
Cannes offers a different kind of celebrity experience compared to Paris. It’s a resort destination where you can indulge in a glamorous atmosphere. Be sure to visit at least once!
