Thank you for visiting my blog. I’m RiRi, a Japanese blogger who runs a blog centered around travel and lifestyle, capturing photos and videos along the way.

I share my experiences, impressions, and recommendations to help those who are traveling to France for the first time.

Last time, I got off at Nice Station in the rain and shared an overview of the city and the hotels. This time, one of my goals in Nice was to enjoy the wonderful views that represent the city, and I was able to do so. I’ll be sharing these views along with the city’s atmosphere.

・Promenade des Anglais

Promenade des Anglais

Fortunately, the rain stopped, so I went out for a walk.

Along the coast of Nice, there is a promenade called the “Promenade des Anglais” which is about 3.5 km long. It is a pleasant street to walk on a sunny day and is a must-visit spot for sightseeing in Nice.

・La chaise bleue de SAB

La chaise bleue de SAB

There is an iconic art piece in Nice called “La chaise bleue de SAB,” which looks three-dimensional from a distance. It was created by the French artist Sabine Géraudie.

The theme of this piece is “C’est l’histoire du bonheur, et de la difficulté d’y accéder,” which translates to “The story of happiness and the difficulty of reaching it.”

I only stayed in Nice for one day, and just like the weather on that day, the fact that the rain stopped after pouring so much made me feel a step closer to happiness.

The beach in Cannes is sandy, but as you can see from the photos, the coast of Nice is not sandy but pebbly.

It seems nice since you don’t get sand sticking to you after swimming, but it might get uncomfortable to sit on the beach for a long time.

Along the Promenade des Anglais, palm trees line the street, creating a pleasant atmosphere. After this, I plan to walk towards the hills.

One of the accommodation options I considered was the oceanfront Mercure Hotel, which offers good beach access.

Another option I considered was the four-star HOTEL SUISSE, which is located in front of the hills.

・#I LOVE NICE

#I LOVE NICE

Across the road from HOTEL SUISSE, there is an iconic Nice sign, which is also a popular tourist attraction.

The “#” part of this sign is usually blue, and when combined with the letters, it forms the tricolor colors of white, blue, and red. I was looking forward to seeing this, but due to the Tour de France 2024, the colors were different as shown in the photos. Nevertheless, it seems like it would look stunning against the blue of the sea on a sunny day.

・Best enjoyed on a sunny day! Spectacular views of the azure Nice.

・Point de vue Colline du chateau

To the immediate left of the building where HOTEL SUISSE is located, there are stairs leading up to an observation deck called Point de vue Colline du Chateau, which offers a truly magnificent view. There seems to be an elevator to the observation deck as well, but it was either out of service or closed at the time.

Here is what the Nice coastline and city look like after the rain, as seen from the observation deck.

NICE/Point de vue Colline du chateau

While clear weather would have been ideal, despite the heavy rain when I arrived at NICE station, the rain stopped. Given that I was only staying for just one day, it was truly a miracle. I am so glad I got to see this view.

NICE/Point de vue Colline du chateau

I enjoyed looking at the luxurious hotels lined up in front of the seaside street Promenade des Anglais, the old town of Nice, and the curved Nice beach.

In late April, it stays light until almost 9 PM, allowing ample time to fully appreciate this scenery.

・ Colline du Château

Climbing further up from the viewpoint, you reach the Castle Hill Park, where the view extending to the opposite side of Nice is also wonderful!

It’s quite a walk, so it provides good exercise.

Inside the Castle Hill Park, in addition to the viewpoint, there are artificial waterfalls, parts of the walls and ruins of the medieval castle, and a war memorial.

There is a marine port from which you can set sail to destinations like Corsica and Saint-Tropez.

On this side, options for travel expand with nearby places such as the village of Èze, Monaco, Menton, and even Italy.

・Italian dinner around Place ”Cours Saleya” in Nice.

After walking a lot and getting absorbed in taking photos, I realized it was already time for dinner.

Descending the hill with the Castle Hill Park, I strolled around looking for a nice place to eat alone.

NICE

At the Cours Saleya market square, a row of restaurants lined up with many people filling the terrace seats, making the atmosphere even more appetizing.

Looking back, I wish I had enjoyed more French cuisine, but I found an Italian restaurant in front of the courthouse square and decided to give it a try.

At night, it got chilly again, around 10°C, but I was seated at a table near a heater on the terrace.

The vongole I had here paired perfectly with red wine! I could have eaten a lot more.

If I lived around here, I’d never get tired of the variety of restaurants. It seems like a fantastic place to enjoy life. I’m a bit envious!

I had a wonderful time on my last day in France, creating great memories.

Just like Paris, both Cannes and Nice have amazing food. It makes me want to move here!

Next, I’m leaving France and heading to another country from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. My journey continues, so stay tuned!
